Ive recently lost some weight and I now have really big stretch marks around my belly button and my hips. The ones by my hips are kind of pinkish but some of it is kind of erm. clear? if thats right. And the ones round my belly button are really red and noticable. I cant make the most of my weight loss because they look really awful. What can help them be less noticable/disappear? Any home remedies? Or over the counter treatments like creams or something? Nothing that involves surgery please :) Best answer to the first

Losing weight: more difficult as you get older

1006881_whats_on_your_plateWeight loss can be extremely frustrating, especially when you get older. Maybe you have children who eat whatever they want and are stick skinny, while you are dieting, cutting back the calories and seeing no results. Or, it could be that your 25-year-old daughter and you are doing the same diet and she is losing lots of weight and you aren’t. Everyone is praising her figure and not yours. Why is it that weight loss is hard for you? It isn’t that you are not trying. You are not alone.

Weight loss is more than just counting calories. It has a lot to do with your age, body type, and genetics. Most specifically though, as you get older it is definitely harder to lose those added pounds. Your metabolism has decreased and you are most likely less active. Unfortunately for most women, menopause can cause them to suddenly gain weight.

Also, keep in mind that your body has a set point in weight no matter how much you eat that it clings to. So, that does influence your weight when it comes to your diet and weight loss goals. What is important is to stay positive and healthy by eating well and remaining active.

Depression and Nutritional Deficiencies as the Causes of Reversible Dementia

Depression is not only a symptom of dementia, but it can cause other symptoms typical of dementia, as well. Consequently, depression is often misdiagnosed as dementia, particularly in the elderly. This misdiagnosis is tragic, because the majority of people with depression can be effectively treated. In addition to the depressed mood, loss of interest and social withdrawal we commonly think of as depression, both syndromes can produce sleep disorders, weight loss or weight gain, psychomotor retardation (an abnormal slowing down of activities and mental processes) and a diminished ability to think or concentrate. In many instances, depressed people, particularly older individuals, may appear confused and may suffer memory loss. Read more
