Mysterious scars on my back?

January 6, 2011 by admin

About a year ago I went to get in the shower and noticed three (one of them is broken in the middle) long, deep into the skin, horizontal scars in the middle my back. They were bright pink then, but are now purple. Then my mother and doctor said it looked like someone had burned me or wiped me. My doctor was unsure, but unconcerned.

I have been trying to do some research on this on my own today. So before you all say what you think might have caused it, let me explain why that can’t be.

I have NOT had any sudden growth spurts so they are NOT stretch marks, although they have a similar appearance of them. I weigh about 100 pounds steadily, give or take a pound or two, for the past three years, and I have never weighed one pound over 105 so it is not brought on by sudden weight gain or lose. I am not anorexic. I eat every meal. I am 5’8 now, one inch taller then last year and only two inches taller then the year before. (5’8 = 17, 5’7 = 16, 5’6 = 15, 5’4 = 14) No sudden growth spurt...

I have great posture. I walk with my shoulders back and head up high, and when I sit on a chair with no back, my back is straight.

Also, about a year before the scars appeared I had a strange back pain that came on with nothing happening that could have brought it on(such as vigorous activity or weight lifting). The pain was so sever that I could stand no pressure(not even a sheet) on my back. My back was not red, although it looked a little swollen. Anything touching my back would send my crying and trying to get away. The ER just gave me heavy duty pain meds and the only way the pain went away was after my mom got some church group to pray over it… Even though the scars appeared nine month later, could sever back pain somehow cause it?

P.S. I've never had a ghost experience or woke up sweating. I rarely dream and don't have a history of sleep walking, and if I did, the slightest sounds wakes my mother up so she would know. Also Spiritual answers are optional if you haven't a logical one. Also, from my research I looked up morphea scleroderma. Looks nothing like it and is nothing like it so please don't mention that here.

How do I make my dog with arthritis feel more comfortable?

January 3, 2011 by admin

I adopted a 13 year old dog from the pound (they were about to put her to sleep) and she has mild arthritis. I give her soft pillows to lie on and let her be on the couch but she still seems to move stiffly and lies around a lot. Is there any special food I can give her or anything? I have never had an old dog before.

Just found out my cat has arthritis. How long does he have to live?

I took my cat to the Vet today. I thought he was poisoned but his blood test results were normal. The Vet said my cat has arthritis in the hips. My cat can't even stand on his hind legs. It seems like out of the BLUE our cat can't function. I've never had that happen to me with any of my cats. He has been sleeping and laying around all day and all yesterday. The vet gave him a steriod shot that might help his muscles and help him get back on his feet. I just don't want our cat to suffer. Right now he seems okay relaxing, chilling out but he can't even walk by himself. His hind legs seem useless. Is this the end? Do you think we need to put our 8 yr old cat to sleep? Does anyone know? I need some advice. It's really sad right now to think of loosing our beloved cat!
Okay this is what I don't understand: if our vet says our cat has arthritis, why can't he use his back hind legs? Seriously, I mean really. I am so confused right now. I guess I'm in denial right now. If our cat can't function, how is he going to go the bathroom? I can feed him and give him liquids but at some point you would think he needs to release himself(bathroom break) . Do we need to buy diapers? If it gets to that point is it time to put our cat to sleep. I think it's wrong to make a cat suffer. Right this moment he's not suffering but I don't even want him to feel any pain. I'm so torn. My children and I have been crying on and off all day. I'm just trying to get some answers so I can make the right decision. I need to make the best decision for our cat! He's our MAN. He's truly the best cat. As I look into his eyes it's like he's telling me "Time is running out". Is it time to let him go into the light? It's just so hard and so sad! Thanks for all your advice. It's helpful.

I have scleroderma, and would like to know how to rid the swelling in my hands and feet?

August 1, 2010 by admin

I only have this severe swelling in my hands at night and or when I drink. I have to sleep with the house really cold in order for the swelling to stay at a minimum. When I drink, my hands get really swollen and hot. During the day I don't have much of any symptoms. A real drag to not be able to wear ring, as I can't wear my wedding rings, and I am a ring-o-holic.

How can I ease my dogs arthritis without Rx medication?

July 11, 2010 by admin

I have a 9 year old Rottweiler (named Belle) who is having some trouble with arthritis. She is becoming more stiff as the nights get colder, I'm doing what I can for her. I let her sleep on my bed, and on the couch when she's in the living room. I am also giving her Bayer Asprin (I asked my vet about the appropriate dose), but she is still limping a bit through out the day. Is there anything else I can do the ease her arhritis pain without having to put her on a perscription medication?
