Dermatologist testing for Lupus and Scleroderma ?

I have been referred to a dermatologist for test to see if I have scleroderma and to look at the rash I have across my cheeks and the hair loss I am having. I have had one positive ANA 18 years ago and have the hand curling and other issues with scleroderma and a dr. confirmed I had scleroderma by symptoms but said he thought I had a secondary autoimmune issue because of the rash. What can a dermatologist do to look for scleroderma and lupus ? I get them looking at my skin and hair but what test do they have to help determine I do have autoimmune issues ?

So far nothing else has been found, although more tests were run. I have done much research into Lupus, Scleroderma and other autoimmune disorders and nothing fits - I have no symptoms. The reason for my visit to the doc was an unexplained rash I get on my chest and chin, usually at night. this rash does not match any of the "rash" symptoms for several of the disorders. I am almost 46 and am wondering if hormonal changes could be causing the rash? I have no reaction to the sun, light, etc. Again, I am also wondering if this H-Pylori could be the cause of the positive ANA and/or rash! Thank you!

Dr. suspecting Scleroderma will be the final diagnosis. My polymiotosis test was normal in March and CBK was 55 in March. CBK is now 1,506. My muscles are weak in legs and feet with periodic loss of balance. I am on .8 ml for a week and on .4 ml for 5 weeks prior of Methotrexate. I have serious Raynauds syndrome plus serious GI new issues. What is the 1,504 CBK likely to be associated with? I also have rash spreading in patches across my forehead quickly. Looks like a loss of pigment, and not "rash" and small red bumps on on face. Any ideas?

How do you know when to see a doctor for a rash? Rashes vary in type. However, for the most part, they are often the result of an allergic reaction or an irritation. They can be treated at home and if the condition worsens, a doctor can then be consulted. However, if the rash is big bumps that look almost like bruises, then you should probably consider seeing your doctor right away. The problem could be more severe then just your basic rash.
