			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I have been diagnosed with two, and there is no genetic history in my family of auto-immune disease. My theory is that my immune system has been compromised due to an MMR shot I received in my left leg when I was one year old. The vaccine was administered in 1986 and I have found that MMR shots given during this year were found to be experimental. Perhaps they contained themerosal, mercury or some other additive? I'm 21 and seeking answers to why I have these conditions: scleroderma and self--limited colitis.</p>

<p>Clich+¬s are clich+¬s because they make sense and are, almost always, timely. "Prevention is better than cure" is one of the old sayings we might as well follow. The only method to keep our bodies up and going is not to take medicine when we are sick but to avoid becoming sick in the first place. This means we have to keep our immune system in shape.<span id="more-119"></span></p>
<p>Most people wrongly believe that we cannot control our immune system but it is actually up to us to take optimum care of it. Here are several things that you can do:</p>
<p>Your diet should have plenty of antioxidants. This means eating fruits and vegetables with vitamins A, C, and E. Pop some of those blueberries and cherries then cook up some spinach and brussel sprouts. Finish up with tea. It might be hard to get the recommended amount of antioxidants so consider taking a daily supplement.</p>
<p>Slow down on the sweets. Sugar can affect your white blood cells and that is not in a good way. Avoiding it will increase the proper functioning of our immune system.</p>
<p>No fatty foods! At least, cut down on them. We all know the negative effects they can have on our health so adapt a leaner diet.</p>
<p>Make exercise a routine. You do not have to do it everyday. Three to four times in a week is enough to get good blood circulation. This allows your white blood cells to flow through the body and kill germs faster.</p>
<p>Drink water. Water cleanses our bodies and flushes out toxins from the body. You can also get some of those colon cleansing products to do this. Releasing dirt means getting rid of the bad stuff that hamper the proper functioning of our immune systems.</p>
<p>Zinc and other herbs are ideal. The herbs include garlic, elderberry, and astragalus. Make sure zinc is part of your diet, as it helps out our immune system when we get sick.</p>
<p>Get enough sleep and rest. Growth hormones are generated by our bodies every time we sleep. These hormones boost our immunity so catch up on your z's so you will not get sick.</p>
<p>Once you take care of your immune system, it will reciprocate by taking care of you. Once you follow the old clich+¬, you will worry less about medications and prescription drugs because you will not get sick at all! So, boost your immune system and live healthy.</p>

<p>If you are suffering from allergies and are seeking natural remedies, then be comforted with the fact that there are actually a variety of options available. Among these relief is food. There are several food products that alleviate common allergic reactions.<span id="more-106"></span></p>

<p>Another type of food option that you can use in treating allergies is vegetable juices. It has been found in some studies, that vegetable juices are effective in allergy treatment.<br />
You may take simple vegetable juices such as carrot juice or make your own vegetable juice combination. Mixing cucumber, carrot and beet juice is a firsthand recommendation.</p>
<p>One food that may be eaten for relief from allergies is banana. This all-natural remedy recommends at least one banana daily for one to two months, although 2 bananas will be more beneficial. While banana is a general relief for allergies, it is specifically designed for skin allergies that progress from smaller allergies.</p>
<p>It is advised to consume lots of fruits and vegetables. As mentioned, lime and banana have therapeutic claims against most allergies. Apples, carrots and grapes may also be tried. It is recommended to start this all-natural diet slowly. One can eat a fruit or vegetable then add another in the following days or weeks. This approach is advised when a person fasts.</p>
<p>While these fruits and vegetables do offer relief from allergies, one must proceed with this diet with caution. This natural method is dependent on specific allergies that one has. For instance, while banana may lessen chances of skin allergies, those who are allergic to banana or similar food may not be able to eat this natural remedy without an allergic reaction from it. It is advised that people with food allergies conduct their own research first. A scheduled consultation with a doctor or checking articles in the internet, such as from a credible medical websites namely WebMD, is a good start.</p>

<p><strong>Types of meditation </strong></p>
<p>Meditation is broadly classified into 2 types- mindfulness meditation and Concentration meditation. In mindfulness meditation, person sits silently and comfortably and centralizes all of his attention at a single object; concept or process like mantras, breathing etc. meditator is supposed to shut his mind for outer world and social concerns during meditation. This kind of meditation is open focus meditation on the other hand Concentration meditation is religion based meditation, in which meditator concentrates about some prayer and try to overcome all the distractions. <p><strong>Meditation with Hinduism </strong><br />
Meditation actually originated from Hinduism which is the oldest religion in the world. In Hinduism meditation has a reputed place of spirituality. Ancient Indian spiritual gurus were found to be describing meditation even 5000 years before. In Hinduism meditation was focused as one of the 6 schools of philosophy and it was named as Yoga. Various types of meditation in Hinduism are- Raja Yoga, Vedanta, Japa Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Surat shabd yoga and Hatha Yoga. Objective of meditation in Hinduism is to achieve a calm mind state. Patanjali, main stream of Yoga defines 5 types of minds and their treatments in terms of meditation. According to Patanjali the end of meditation is the complete freedom from primal ignorance or avidya.<br />
Meditation also found reputed places in religions like Buddhism, Islam, Christianity and Sikhism.</p>
<p><strong>How to meditate </strong><br />
Sleep is called as unconscious state of Meditation and Meditation itself is a conscious sleep. It has been believed that a meditator receives a large amount of Cosmic Energy while meditating. For Meditation, the first important thing is the Posture. You can sit in any suitable posture but it has to be comfortable. Sitting on floor is preferred in meditation. Person should be in crossed leg position with closed eyes. A complete relax ness should be there. A meditator should try to observe n chase the breath. In initial stages one should not go for some mantra or should not think of some god. Just feel the breath. One should neglect all the thoughts. Breathe in and breathe out for peace and calmness in mind. ThatGÇÖs mediation state. With mediation one can see things out of world and can have answers to all problems from super conscious mind. There is large no. of postures prescribed for meditation, a particular portion is found to be beneficial for a particular disease treatment and purpose.</p>
<p><strong>Health applications of meditation</strong></p>
<p>According to the studies conducted by medical organizations it has been found that meditation provides great help in somebodyGÇÖs health maintenance. Meditation has great effects on functioning of somatic motor mechanism and respiratory and cardiovascular function. Meditation is approved technique for reduction in pain and stress.</p>
<p>Books like Zen and the Brain explains the use of meditation for brain functions and it has been roved by functional MRI and other brain scanning techniques. Meditation actually initiates a phenomenon of physical and bio-chemical changes in body, which is called relaxation response of body. It helps in setting disturbances in immune system and in reducing stress from brain. Meditators are stronger as compared to normal human beings in terms of health and mental set-up; itGÇÖs proved by scientists by conducting studies on persons (sadhu) who devote their lives for meditation in Himalayas.<br />
In all terms meditation is much more convenient way to tackle health problems and other needs of mind (peace) rather then going for chemical and drug usages.</p>

However, speaking from the perspective of your health, statistically your chances of dying before the age of 60 are much more higher than women.  Moreover, as your age progresses, your chances of staying alive decrease, as compared to the chances of a woman staying alive.  In fact, if you think about it, you will quickly see that the women usually live longer than men, as most wives become widows much sooner than their husbands. (Who knows maybe it is the stress that woman subject man to).  However, the basic fact doesnGÇÖt change that manGÇÖs physiology are geared more toward degradation of the body versus the womenGÇÖs body.  However, you are not without options. You can increase your chances as a man for a healthy old age, if you follow the tips given below.<span id="more-35"></span></p>
<ul>
<li>Stay away from all forms of cigarette smoking (including cigar and pipe smoking).</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Lower your daily consumption of alcohol or stop it all together. (Some doctors suggest that drinking a glass of wine a day may be beneficial to your health)</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> Use a sensible diet that is based on fruits, vegetables and fiber.  Cut back on fatty proteins and cholesterol.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> Eat more fish (at least 3 times a week) as it contains a lot of Omega 3 and Omega 6, which are oils that are essential for your heart and fish also helps to protect against various forms of cancer.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> Exercise frequently (at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes a session).  Especially concentrate on aerobic exercises which may be beneficial to your heart.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> Reduce your weight to the norms of your height and age.  Furthermore, reduce the fattening around the waist as this is directly an invitation to heart disease, high blood pressure and Type II Diabetes.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> Make sure that you learn to control your stress as it is the number one antagonist for your health.  Do meditation, yoga or whatever stress control technique that works for you.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> Stay away from environmentally polluting factors such as pollution or radiation.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> Protect yourself from sexual diseases as statistics show that men will have their immune system weakened by sexually transmitted diseases after the age of 35.  Make sure that you wear protective condoms for maximum protection.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> Go to a medical checkup once a year after the age of 40.  Make sure that you undergo all the necessary tests and learn to listen to your body.</li>
