1019427_aleo_veraBenzoil peroxide is a common ingredient used to treat acne. It works like a charm for most people with acne prone skin. You, the patient who’s doctor prescribed you a benzoil peroxide cleanser to treat your acne, have sensitive, dry skin and have never used benzoil peroxide before. When you use the cleanser, you realize that your face is turning red. You assume it is probably a normal reaction to the cleanser and think nothing until a few days later your entire face is burned, like you’ve been out on the ski slopes but much worse. So, you decide you should finally call your doctor. And as it turns out you’ve not only had a reaction, but you are also allergic to benzoil peroxide. Should you have called the doctor sooner? Maybe. But situations are similar when you get any variety of rashes.

How do you know when to see a doctor for a rash? Rashes vary in type. However, for the most part, they are often the result of an allergic reaction or an irritation. They can be treated at home and if the condition worsens, a doctor can then be consulted. However, if the rash is big bumps that look almost like bruises, then you should probably consider seeing your doctor right away. The problem could be more severe then just your basic rash.
