10 Warning Signs in Headaches

Most people are riddled with headaches and it makes them irritable.-á Especially after a stressful day, a headache can make your life very miserable.-á Moreover, a persistent headache will cause you to lose your efficiency at work or at school.-á Of course, your headache can be caused by variety of reasons.-á The most common cause for headaches is definitely stress and anxiety that we feel in our daily lives. Stress can cause the constriction of blood vessels and the nerve endings will respond with a headache. When the stress causing factors are eliminated, usually the headache will dissipate in a couple of hours.

Sometimes, your addictions to caffeine or to nicotine in cigarettes can also cause headaches.-á In these cases, as soon as you drink a cup of coffee, your headache will subside.-á Of course, sometimes just not getting enough sleep can also be a cause for headaches.-á However, in some cases, headaches can signal much more serious conditions.-á Here are the 10 warning signs that you have to watch out for in headaches.

  • Watch out for headaches that are very frequent and seem very persistent.-á If they suddenly come and go at frequent intervals, this is usually an important warning sign.
  • Headaches that come after the age of 50 can be also harbinger of bad news.
  • If you have a headache that you can categorize as the most powerful headache in your life, then this can be a serious warning sign indicating a neurological condition.
  • If you have had already a headache and if it suddenly picks up in intensity and frequency then you should be concerned.
  • Any headaches that have neurological symptoms (such as dizziness, sudden fainting, immediate convulsions, and feeling of vertigo) should be checked out carefully.-á These neurological symptoms coupled with a headache can be signs for serious disorders including a brain tumor.
  • Headaches that are unresponsive to treatment for extended periods of time should be examined carefully as they can be harbingers of more serious complications.
  • If you are over the age of 60 and if you have had a sudden and a very sharp headache, this can be a sign of an impending stroke and should be checked out by a neurologist as soon as possible.
  • Any headaches that start with coughing should be examined carefully.
  • Headaches that start after exercising can be linked to neurological disorders and high blood pressure.
  • If you lay down and your headache is increasing, then this is something to watch out too.
