Women have special needs when breastfeeding, pregnant or during menopause and should consult with their doctor before starting or changing supplement their routine at these times. Women in general need more calcium, vitamin D and iron then men, but too much calcium in men is linked to prostate cancer. While both men and women benefit from omega 3 fatty acids, men only get benefits from the marine derived kinds.

Dietary needs are largely based on body weight, size and exercise level. Men require more fiber and protein then women and our nutrition needs change as we age. It is possible that every person in your house needs a different daily vitamin, so read the labels and ask your doctor if it’s a good choice. It is possible to overdose on certain vitamins like B-6 but the symptoms aren’t always fast-acting so it is important to reevaluate your supplements periodically or as your diet changes. Stay healthy by exercising and eating more fruits and vegetables.
